ABOUT 12 KEYS REHAB

Located in the coastal community of Jensen Beach, Fla., 12 Keys Rehab provides residential substance abuse treatment for men and women dealing with substance abuse and those with co-occurring conditions. Detoxification services are offered on-site, as are partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programming (IOP).

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

An assessment is provided at the beginning of treatment to determine the level of care needed.

Emergency detoxification services are available including medication assisted detoxis available.

All levels of treatment include an introduction to the 12-steps and individual, group, and family counseling.

12 Keys uses evidence-based practices like eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.

Residents may choose from 30-, 60-, or 90-day tracks. Partial hospitalization programming lasts five to seven days a week for several hours. IOP lasts about eight weeks on average.

An executive rehabilitation program provides confidential treatment for working professionals.

12 Keys creates individualized aftercare plans for program graduates and provides continuing care for both alumni and their loved ones.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

12 Keys Rehab has a low staff-to-client ratio of 1:5. The facility employs a medical doctor and addiction counselors. Many of its staff members are in recovery.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Residents will live in a large house or smaller cottages nestled across the 10-acre waterfront property. They will live in private and semi-private rooms and have access to personal cell phones and computers.

The location lends itself to outdoor pursuits like swimming, kayaking, fishing, and paddleboarding. In addition, clients will take regular day trips horseback riding and enjoy nutritious meals daily. Personal training services are available.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Nearly 30 alumni gave high marks for treatment effectiveness at 12 Keys, with most leaving four- and five-stars out of a possible five. As a whole, alumni praised the facility for saving lives and for its individualized approach. Alum C.F. commented: “This rehab is great because it is small and they focus on you!"However, some alumni did mention problems with communication and unqualified staff.

Seven individuals polled by Rehabs.com gave near-perfect ratings of 4.8 out of five stars to the level of staff experience and family participation offered at 12 Keys. They also gave 4.7 stars for opportunities for exercise and leisure, the connectivity/visitor policy, and affordability.

On the facility's Facebook page (which it can manage) 154 individuals gave 12 Keys 3.9 out of five stars.[1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Fourteen loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com at this time of writing indicated that they would recommend treatment at 12 Keys. Loved ones awarded four out of five stars to the facility's family participation and visitor policy. They also gave 12 Keys 3.9 stars for its affordability and 4.2 stars for the staff's level of experience and training. Several survey respondents referred to staff as "friendly" and "caring," though others noted a poor level of communication between staff and family.

WHAT STAFF SAY

Two staff members to date have responded to a Rehabs.com survey and gave mixed feedback about 12 Keys. H.M. reported a lack of resources and wrote: “techs do family sessions -staff does not have proper work experience-hired right out of that rehab. The property was pretty but staff and management were not that great.”

The other employee, R.W., gave high marks of four- and five-stars to most evaluated categories and reported that treatment for co-occurring disorders and trauma was a strength of the facility.

  • This scholarship will be available to any U.S. resident who will be enrolling in college courses in their next semester.

Essay Guidelines:

Write an essay with 500 words or less on one of the following subjects:

  • How staying away from alcohol and drugs has had a positive effect on your life
  • How to avoid peer pressure to drink/use drugs
  • Your personal story of resilience and recovery from a drug or alcohol problem
  • Why living a sober life is important to you
  • Creative alternatives to having alcohol/drugs at parties
  • How abstaining from alcohol/drugs relates to your field of study (get creative!)

Award Amount:

Two $500 college scholarships every year (one scholarship in the fall and one in the spring) to students who are enrolling in secondary education in their next semester of education

Application Deadline:

  • Spring Semester deadline is April 1 and winners will be announced on May 1
  • Fall Semester deadline is October 1 and winners announced on November
